Howe Corporation Is WBE Certified
Celebrating Diversity in Business
Back in the 1990s, President Clinton signed a mandate to award 5% of the U.S. Government’s contracts to women-owned businesses. While the actual numbers have fluctuated over the years, certification for women-owned businesses has increased, raising awareness and helping to meet goals for diversity. At Howe Corporation, we are proud to hold certification with the Women’s Business Enterprise National Council (WBENC). We offer our services for all customers who are seeking women-owned businesses, both as part of supplier diversity programs and for increased overall diversity in the marketplace.
A Proud Tradition
Founded in 1997, the WBENC currently ranks as the largest third-party certifier of women-owned, controlled, and operated businesses in the United States. The WBENC’s mission is to help women-owned businesses gain opportunities by identifying, certifying, and facilitating their development. They certify businesses across the country with 14 Regional Partner Organizations, and also work worldwide with WEConnect International. In order to achieve certification, businesses must demonstrably prove that they are 51% owned, controlled, and operated by women. Completed by both a lengthy application and site visits, certification ensures customers seeking women-owned enterprises that businesses meet the diversity specifications they require. The comprehensive measures taken by WBENC ensure customers that no additional due diligence is necessary on the part of companies seeking women-owned businesses.
